Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Youth, Sports and Social Development today toured the Igbogbo Stadium which is under construction.
They were received by the Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun.
Hon. Abiodun Orekoya, Chairman of the committee led Hon. Femi Saheed, Hon. Apata Samuel Olu, and Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II and the chief host. Also, part of the delegation were Mr Lekan Fatodu, Director – General, Lagos State Sports Commission and representatives of the Lagos State Ministry of Works.

The inspection covered the stadium’s main field, stands, and adjoining facilities, where discussions were held on rehabilitation prospects and the possibility of phased upgrades. The delegation also explored strategies for optimising the use of the stadium as a centre for youth empowerment, community recreation, and sports-driven social development.
While receiving the delegation, Aroyewun described the visit as a welcome and timely intervention that demonstrates the state government’s dedication to upgrading sporting infrastructure and expanding youth engagement opportunities in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA:
“This visit is a reflection of the state’s commitment to nurturing young talents through sports and ensuring that our communities have access to modern, functional, and safe facilities. Igbogbo has always been a hub of youth energy and creativity, and with renewed attention to our stadium, we can channel that energy into positive development.”


In his remarks, Hon. Orekoya, chairman of the committee, commended the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA chairman and people of Igbogbo/Baiyeku for their hospitality and assured that the LSHA would work with the relevant ministries and agencies to fast-track improvements to the facility.
Similarly, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the voices and needs of the constituency remain well represented at the state level, particularly in areas that directly impact youth and community development.
